Pau Gasol explodes!

The rifts between the player and the coach increase after the lost against the Pacers.

Lakers, stranded in the last position of the Western Conference, are still a pressure cooker. The differences between the players and the coach are evident. This derives to a stranded Lakers, without a clear course and nearly to burst. I think that the Lakers should plan the roster for the next season regarding the stars that will be free agents next summer.

Los Lakers, hundidos en la última posición de la Conferencia Oeste, continúan siendo un polvorín. Las diferencias entre jugadores y entrenador son evidentes. La última bronca tiene como protagonistas a Pau Gasol y a Mike D’Antoni. El pívot español no está de acuerdo con la idea de juego de su entrenador, como la mayoría del roster, ni con la planificación que la franquicia está llevando a cabo.

Tras la derrota ante Indiana, el español fue muy crítico con el planteamiento de su entrenador “Si quieres jugar con pequeños, al menos tienes que aprovecharlo y jugar más rápido. Pero si te superan por 20 rebotes no va a funcionar hagas lo que hagas. No vas a ganar así” según recoge As.com. Además, Pau dejó claro que existe otro problema al margen del estilo de juego”Hay que ser disciplinados. Tenemos que jugar con disciplina y creo que no hay mucha en el equipo ahora mismo”.

La réplica de D’Antoni no ha tardado: “Es muy fácil dejarlo caer y hablar de tus frustraciones. Sin embargo, no lo entiendo… esas cosas deben quedar en casa. Intentaremos trabajar en otra cosa para encontrar una solución(…) Es molesto ir a la prensa para quejarse. No creo que ese sea el camino a seguir”.

Todo esto deriva en unos Lakers hundidos, sin rumbo fijo y a punto de estallar. Unos Lakers que deberían empezar a planificar la plantilla del año que viene. Unos Lakers que tienen la mirada puesta en las grandes estrellas que serán agentes libres este verano.

Lebron is still the number one!

Lebron returns to the highest position of the race for the MVP. He befalls Durant after weeks leading the classification.

Lebron returns! It seems that Heat’s forward begins to show that he is the authentic King among the NBA.

Curiously, his last game was against his rival and friend Kevin Durant and his Thunders, a game in which Lebron had to leave because he broke his nose in a play with Serge Ibaka. He played 33 minutes in which he scored 33 points!. Moreover, he shot with an AMAZING 68’2% from the field, adding 7 rebounds 3 assists and 4 steals. But this is not the only strong performance Lebron had.

Two nights before this game, he scored 42 points in the win over the Dallas Mavericks with an INCREDIBLE 69´6%. And we need to mention that he captured 9 rebounds, he assisted his teammates 6 times and he stole 2 balls. If we look at his two previous games, games in which he scored 37 and 36 points, we’ll see that, in February, Lebron has returned to claim his throne. These are his numbers during this month: 30’8 points, 8’6 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals per game.

If he continues in this line, Lebron would see his name on the top of the list at the end of the season, achieving his 5th MVP award.

¡Lebron recupera el número 1!

Lebron vuelve a situarse en primer lugar en la lucha por ser el jugador más valorado de la temporada. Sucede a Durant tras varias semanas liderando la clasificación.

¡Vuelve Lebron! Y como vuelve…Parece que el alero de los Heat empieza a demostrar que es el auténtico Rey de la liga. 

Curiosamente, su último partido fue frente a Kevin Durant y sus Thunder, encuentro que Lebron tuvo que abandonar tras fracturarse la nariz en una jugada con Serge Ibaka. 33 fueron los minutos que disputó, tiempo en el que consiguió anotar ¡33 puntos! Además, consiguió un ¡acierto del 68’2%! junto con 7 rebotes 3 asistencias y 4 robos. Pero esta no ha sido la única actuación sobresaliente de Lebron.

Dos noches atrás, el alero conseguía anotar 42 puntos a los Dallas Mavericks con un ¡69’6% de acierto! Y a todo esto le sumamos los 9 rebotes, las 6 asistencias y los dos robos. Si nos fijamos en los dos anteriores partidos en los que anoto 37 y 36 puntos, nos daremos cuenta de que en el mes de Febrero Lebron ha vuelto para quedarse en el trono. Estos han sido sus números durante el mes de Febrero: 30’8 puntos por acompañados de 8’6 rebotes, 7 asistencias y 3 robos por partido. 

De seguir en esta dinámica, Lebron volvería a ver su nombre en lo alto de la tabla al final de temporada, y lograr así, su quinto trofeo como mejor jugador de la temporada.

The trade market did not move despite the rumors about Pau Gasol, Kevin Love and Carmelo Anthony.

Turner for Granger trade seems to be the most important one. Turner begins to be that player that the NBA was waiting for. The shooting guard is playing his best season since he came to the league.

Pese a los rumores de Pau Gasol, Anthony y Kevin Love, el mercado de fichajes no se movió mucho.

Quizás, el traspaso con más nombre sea el de Evan Turner (Philadelphia 76ers) por Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers). Turner empieza a ser ese jugador que tanto esperaba la NBA. El escolta está en su mejor temporada de su carrera en la NBA y llega para fortalecer a los Pacers.

76ers sign a boy with Down's Syndrome

Kevin Grow, an adolescent of 18 years with Down’s syndrome, signed a 2 day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Once again sport gives us a lesson. Kevin Grow is a guy from Bensalem High School in Pennsylvania. During the last 4 years, Kevin serves as assistant coach in his college team. But in the last two games, the coach gave him the opportunity to play some minutes. In that time he could show his ability on this sport, scoring 14 points and scoring at the buzzer.

All this was perceived by the 76ers. They decided to fulfill Kevin’s dream with this priceless gesture. The surprise came in the form of a contract, a 2 day contract that allowed the boy to train with Sixers’ players. Moreover, apart from the gifts received, Kevin would be introduced in the game as any other player, in the match against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The NBA shows again this caring side with which it carries happiness to many people all around the world. It is the perfect example to follow and the model, in my opinion, that should be carried out in other major leagues.

Los 76ers fichan a un joven con Síndrome de Down

Kevin Grow, un joven de 18 años con síndrome de Down, firmó un contrato de dos días con los Philadelphia 76ers.

Una vez más el deporte nos da una lección. Kevin Grow es un chico del Bensalem High School del estado de Pennsylvania. Kevin lleva 4 años siendo el asistente del entrenador en el equipo del instituto. En los dos últimos partidos del equipo, el entrenador le dio la oportunidad de disputar algunos minutos. En ese tiempo pudo demostrar su habilidad para este deporte, logrando 14 puntos y logrando un canastón sobre la bocina. 

Todo esto no pasó inadvertido para la franquicia de los 76ers, que haciendo gala de un gesto de valor incalculable, decidieron cumplir el sueño del joven Kevin. La sorpresa vino en forma de contrato, un contrato de dos días en los que el joven entrenó con los jugadores de los Sixers. Además, aparte del regalo de equipaciones del equipo, el jugador sería presentado como cualquier otro jugador, en la visita de los Cleveland Cavaliers.

La NBA vuelve a demostrar ese lado solidario con el que logra hacer feliz a mucha gente. Un ejemplo a seguir y un modelo que, a mi juicio, tendría que llevarse a cabo en otras grandes ligas del mundo.

Lillard, Wall, Irving and Belinelli, the All-star protagonists

On Friday there was an amazing performance carried out by the players of first and second year. The striking fact of the match was the rivalry in scoring shown by Dion Waiters and Tim Hardaway JR. But an exclusive guest gate-crashed into the party, Andre Drummond. Pistons’ centre took advantage of the All-star’s showcase in order to make an impression on the playing field with 30 points and 25 rebounds. He got the match’s MVP.

One of the most expected moments after the ‘reform’ of the dunk contest, was Saturday’s night. But it led to good and bad consequences. In the first competition, the Shooting Stars, we could see some of the NBA legends, such as Dominique Wilkins or Karl Malone, competing with current figures of the NBA and WNBA. The victory was for the team formed by Chris Bosh, Dominique Wilkins and Swin Cash, which defeated the team composed by Kevin Durant, Karl Malone and Skylar Diggins, in the final. The team headed by Bosh, got to ratify the title achieved last year.

In the second competition, the skill’s one, the emotion was alive until the last second. Carter-Williams and Oladipo started the final leaving the chronometer in 45,3. It was the turn of Damian Lillard and Trey Burke. It seemed that the victory was for the first couple, but after Burke’s mistakes, Utah’s bodyguard squeezed his teeth and left the chronometer in 45,2.

In the third competition, the 3-point contest, there was also emotion until the end with the huge duel between Bradley Beal and Marco Belinelli. Both offered an amazing exhibition of shots and we could enjoy of a play-off round in the finals. The Italian got the victory after scoring 24 out of 34 points.

The competition that closed Saturday’s night, the dunk contest, was once again a complete disaster. This time the NBA had big dunkers but the new format did not allow them to shine. The victory was for the East group and John Wall received the prize for the best dunk of the night.

  

Finally, the big appointment, the Stars Match. There was spectacle, as always. It was expected, perhaps, a big duel between Lebron and Durant.It was at last a dunks’ duel between Lebron and Griffin. Durant and Anthony fought for being the top scorer. Among all the stars, Kyrie Irving appeared to drive the East to the victory and to win his first All-Star game MVP.

Buen espectáculo el que nos ofrecieron el viernes los jugadores de primer y segundo año. El partido estuvo marcado por el pique anotador que tuvieron Dion Waiters y Tim Hardaway JR. . Pero en la fiesta se coló un invitado de lujo, Andre Drummond. El pívot de los Pistons aprovechó el escaparate del All-Star para lucirse y con 30 puntos y 25 rebotes se llevó el MVP del partido.

La noche del sábado, una de las más esperadas tras la “reforma” del concurso de mates, nos dejó luces y sombras. En el primero de los concursos, el Shooting Stars, pudimos ver a algunas de las leyendas de la NBA, como Dominique Wilkins o Karl Malone, competir con figuras actuales de la NBA y de la WNBA. La victoria fue para el equipo formado por Chris Bosh, Dominique Wilkins y Swin Cash que derrotaron en la final al equipo formado por Kevin Durant, Karl Malone y Skylar Diggins. El equipo liderado por Bosh consiguió revalidar el título logrado el año pasado.

 
En el segundo, el de habilidades, la emoción se mantuvo hasta el último segundo. Empezaron la final Carter-Williams y Oladipo dejando el crono en 45,3. Era el turno de Damian Lillard y de Trey Burke. Cuando parecía que la victoria iba a recaer en la primera pareja, tras los fallos de Burke, el escolta de Utah apretó los dientes y consiguió dejar el crono en 45,2.

En el tercero, el de triples, también tuvimos emoción hasta la final con el gran duelo entre Bradley Beal y Marco Belinelli. Ambos ofrecieron un recital de tiro a canasta y pudimos disfrutar de una ronda de desempate en la final. El italiano se alzó con la victoria tras anotar 24 de 34 puntos posibles.

El concurso que cerraba la noche del sábado, el de mates, resultó ser, un año más, un auténtico desastre. Esta vez la NBA tenía grandes matadores pero el nuevo formato no les permitió lucirse. La victoria fue para el conjunto del Este y John Wall recibió el premio por el mejor mate de la noche.

Y por último, la gran cita, el Partido de las Estrellas. Como siempre hubo espectáculo. Quizás se esperaba algo más del duelo entre Lebron y Durant.

Al final fue un duelo de mates entre Lebron y Griffin. Durant y Anthony lucharon por ser el más anotador. Y entre todas las estrellas apareció Kyrie Irving para llevar al Este a la victoria y conseguir su primer MVP del All-Star game.

Paul George and Ross seem to be the favorites to win the title. The NBA thinks that these 6 players can return the prestige that in the past years the dunk contest has lost. You can see here the candidates:

But, this year will be new rules: as Tyler Conway informs “Rather than competing individually, elimination-style like previous years, the NBA has instead come up with a two-round team competition. In the first round, titled the "Freestyle Round," dunkers from each respective conference will have 90 seconds to do as many dunks as they want. After each conference's Freestyle Round opportunity, a panel of judges will determine whether the Eastern Conference or Western Conference won the round. Battle Round: Head-to-head dunk-off. Winner determined by judges. Winner of freestyle round gets to choose the order of the battle round. Dunk contest winner determined when no players from one conference are remaining in the competition. Fans will determine the best dunker”. 

Paul George y Terrence Ross favoritos para el concurso de mates.

Terrence Ross, John Wall, Damian Lillard, Paul George, Ben Mclemore y Harrison Barnes serán los encargados de deleitarnos en el concurso de mates.

A priori, Paul George y Ross parecen los dos candidatos más próximos al título. La NBA cree que estos 6 jugadores pueden devolver ese prestigio, que en los últimos años parece haber perdido el concurso de mates. Aquí podéis ver a cada uno de los candidatos.

Este año habrá cambios en el concurso: Según informa As.com“Los jugadores competirán por equipos, no de forma individual. Dos equipos de tres jugadores representarán a cada una de las Conferencias a lo largo de las dos primeras rondas. La primera, Freestyle Round, permitirá a cada formación llevar a cabo mates, tanto colectivos como individuales, durante un minuto y medio. Al finalizar será el jurado quien elija al vencedor: el Este o el Oeste. La Battle Round o ronda final, se basará en el clásico duelo individual. Un matador del Este contra otro del Oeste. Cara a cara. Tres intentos para hacer un mate. El perdedor será eliminado y así se seguirá hasta que uno de los equipos gane tres duelos y sea alzado como la formación campeona. el público será el que seleccione el mate ganador”.

Durant-Anthony players of the month

First time in this year Carmelo achieves this award. Third consecutive award for Kevin Durant.

Durant y Anthony mejores jugadores del mes de Enero

Primera vez este año que Carmelo recibe el premio al mejor jugador del mes. Por su parte, Durant recibe de forma consecutiva su tercer premio.

Las actuaciones de Carmelo Anthony, durante el mes de Enero, lo han llevado a la obtención del premio a mejor jugador del mes en la Conferencia Este. El jugador ha promediado 28’7 puntos y 9 rebotes además de tirar con un acierto del 49%. Entre sus actuaciones destaca la noche mágica del 24 de Enero, noche en la que consiguió anotar 62 puntos. Además, ha logrado encestar 25 puntos o más en 12 de los 16 partidos que disputó.

Por su parte, Kevin Durant ha logrado su tercer premio consecutivo como mejor jugador de la Conferencia Oeste. Durante el mes de Enero, el jugador consiguió 35’9 puntos por partido con un acierto de casi el 55%. Además, consiguió anotar más de 20 puntos en cada uno de los 16 partidos; 30 o más puntos en 13 ocasiones; 40 o más puntos en 5 partidos y más de 50 en una ocasión.

Los Lakers se apagan

Los Lakers empatan con Sacramento Kings y Utah Jazz en el último puesto de la conferencia Oeste.

Los Lakers, hoy por hoy, son uno de los equipos más flojos de la Liga. Si a esto le sumamos la ausencia de Kobe y la más que probable salida de Gasol, nos encontramos ante un equipo condenado a ocupar las últimas posiciones. 

Quizás, a la franquicia le convenga ocupar estos puestos, en vistas al draft del año que viene. Pero, si la marcha de Gasol se confirma, los angelinos necesitarían al menos otra estrella más para volver a ser un equipo que luche por el anillo. Ese fichaje puede ser, casi con toda seguridad, Kevin Love. Varios medios ya se han hecho eco de la noticia y sitúan al pívot de Minnesota en los Lakers. Y aquí viene de nuevo el problema. El fichaje de Love acercaría a los Lakers al tope salarial y las posibilidades de hacerse con los servicios de otros jugadores de gran nivel disminuirían.

Personalmente, apostaría por el fichaje de Love y por conseguir una buena posición en un draft que se antoja bastante bueno.

Lakers are off

Lakers draw with Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz in the last position of the Western Conference.

The Lakers, right now, are one of the weakest teams in the league. If we add Kobe’s absence and the output of Pau Gasol, we find a team condemned to ocuppy the lower part of the classifications.

Maybe it suits them to occupy these positions, with a view to the next year draft. But, if Gasol’s output is confirmed, the franchise would need another star for being a team able to fight for the ring. This star would be Kevin Love. Media echoes rumors about the trade that would place Minessota’s center in Los Angeles. And here comes the problem. Signing Kevin Love means Lakers would be closer to the salary cap and the possibilities of acquiring the services of high level players would decrease.

Personally, I would sign Love and I would try to be in the first positions of the draft wich seems to have high level.

Kyle Korver no irá al concurso de triples

El alero de Atlanta Hawks rechaza la invitación de la NBA por motivos personales. 

Los aficionados no podrán disfrutar de uno de los mejores tiradores de la liga. El jugador ha preferido descansar durante el parón del All-star para pasar tiempo con su mujer y su hijo, según informa el diario As. Una lástima, sin duda, ya que parecía el candidato perfecto a alzarse con el triunfo. 

Su lugar lo podrían ocupar Mirza Teletovic (Brooklyn Nets), Aaron Afflalo(Orlando MAgic), Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards) o Anthony Tolliver(Charlotte Bobcats).

Hawks forward rejects NBA’s invitation for personal reasons.

Fans could not enjoy one of the best shooters in the league. The player has preferred to rest during the All-star break as informs the spanish journal AS. Undoubtley,it's a pity, because it seemed the perfect candidate for clinching the victory.

His place could be occupied by Mirza Teletovic (Brooklyn Nets), Aaron Afflalo(Orlando Magic), Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards) or Anthony Tolliver (Charlotte Bobcats).

Pau Gasol… ¿a los Suns?

Phoenix Suns, el equipo revelación en el Oeste, quiere hacerse con los servicios del español. Los Lakers podrían recibir a cambio a Emeka Okafor.

Pau Gasol podría cambiar de rumbo antes del 20 de Febrero. Los Suns quieren hacerse con los servicios del español con vistas a poder disputar los playoffs. Pau llegaría para reforzar las posiciones de 4 y de 5 que actualmente están ocupadas por jugadores muy jóvenes.  

Además, parece haber recuperado el nivel de juego que lo sitúa entre los mejores de la liga, y es que en los últimos 10 partidos ha promediado 20 puntos y 11 rebotes.

La salida de Gasol beneficiaría a ambas partes. Los Lakers se ahorrarían los 19 millones de Gasol, y éste llegaría a un equipo que lucha por entrar en playoffs, algo que en Los Ángeles está totalmente descartado.

Pau Gasol…to the Suns?

Phoenix Suns, the surprise of the Western Conference, want to acquire Gasol’s services. Lakers would receive Emeka Okafor.

Pau Gasol could change his course before February 20. Suns want to gain the services of the Spanish star regarding the playoffs. Pau would arrive to reinforce center and power forward positions that, right now, are occupied by young players.

Moreover, he seems to recover that game level that placed him among the best players within the league, averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds during the last 10 games.

Gasol's output would benefit both parts. Lakers would save 19 million from Gasol contract, and he would arrive to a team that is fighting for the playoffs, something that is unthinkable in Los Angeles.

Ibaka's great night

Thunder’s center scored the 12 field goals he attempted. He also captured 9 rebounds. Kevin Durant was almost perfect with 26 points and 10-12 in field goals.
