Lillard, Wall, Irving and Belinelli, the All-star protagonists

On Friday there was an amazing performance carried out by the players of first and second year. The striking fact of the match was the rivalry in scoring shown by Dion Waiters and Tim Hardaway JR. But an exclusive guest gate-crashed into the party, Andre Drummond. Pistons’ centre took advantage of the All-star’s showcase in order to make an impression on the playing field with 30 points and 25 rebounds. He got the match’s MVP.

One of the most expected moments after the ‘reform’ of the dunk contest, was Saturday’s night. But it led to good and bad consequences. In the first competition, the Shooting Stars, we could see some of the NBA legends, such as Dominique Wilkins or Karl Malone, competing with current figures of the NBA and WNBA. The victory was for the team formed by Chris Bosh, Dominique Wilkins and Swin Cash, which defeated the team composed by Kevin Durant, Karl Malone and Skylar Diggins, in the final. The team headed by Bosh, got to ratify the title achieved last year.

In the second competition, the skill’s one, the emotion was alive until the last second. Carter-Williams and Oladipo started the final leaving the chronometer in 45,3. It was the turn of Damian Lillard and Trey Burke. It seemed that the victory was for the first couple, but after Burke’s mistakes, Utah’s bodyguard squeezed his teeth and left the chronometer in 45,2.

In the third competition, the 3-point contest, there was also emotion until the end with the huge duel between Bradley Beal and Marco Belinelli. Both offered an amazing exhibition of shots and we could enjoy of a play-off round in the finals. The Italian got the victory after scoring 24 out of 34 points.

The competition that closed Saturday’s night, the dunk contest, was once again a complete disaster. This time the NBA had big dunkers but the new format did not allow them to shine. The victory was for the East group and John Wall received the prize for the best dunk of the night.

  

Finally, the big appointment, the Stars Match. There was spectacle, as always. It was expected, perhaps, a big duel between Lebron and Durant.It was at last a dunks’ duel between Lebron and Griffin. Durant and Anthony fought for being the top scorer. Among all the stars, Kyrie Irving appeared to drive the East to the victory and to win his first All-Star game MVP.

Buen espectáculo el que nos ofrecieron el viernes los jugadores de primer y segundo año. El partido estuvo marcado por el pique anotador que tuvieron Dion Waiters y Tim Hardaway JR. . Pero en la fiesta se coló un invitado de lujo, Andre Drummond. El pívot de los Pistons aprovechó el escaparate del All-Star para lucirse y con 30 puntos y 25 rebotes se llevó el MVP del partido.

La noche del sábado, una de las más esperadas tras la “reforma” del concurso de mates, nos dejó luces y sombras. En el primero de los concursos, el Shooting Stars, pudimos ver a algunas de las leyendas de la NBA, como Dominique Wilkins o Karl Malone, competir con figuras actuales de la NBA y de la WNBA. La victoria fue para el equipo formado por Chris Bosh, Dominique Wilkins y Swin Cash que derrotaron en la final al equipo formado por Kevin Durant, Karl Malone y Skylar Diggins. El equipo liderado por Bosh consiguió revalidar el título logrado el año pasado.

 
En el segundo, el de habilidades, la emoción se mantuvo hasta el último segundo. Empezaron la final Carter-Williams y Oladipo dejando el crono en 45,3. Era el turno de Damian Lillard y de Trey Burke. Cuando parecía que la victoria iba a recaer en la primera pareja, tras los fallos de Burke, el escolta de Utah apretó los dientes y consiguió dejar el crono en 45,2.

En el tercero, el de triples, también tuvimos emoción hasta la final con el gran duelo entre Bradley Beal y Marco Belinelli. Ambos ofrecieron un recital de tiro a canasta y pudimos disfrutar de una ronda de desempate en la final. El italiano se alzó con la victoria tras anotar 24 de 34 puntos posibles.

El concurso que cerraba la noche del sábado, el de mates, resultó ser, un año más, un auténtico desastre. Esta vez la NBA tenía grandes matadores pero el nuevo formato no les permitió lucirse. La victoria fue para el conjunto del Este y John Wall recibió el premio por el mejor mate de la noche.

Y por último, la gran cita, el Partido de las Estrellas. Como siempre hubo espectáculo. Quizás se esperaba algo más del duelo entre Lebron y Durant.

Al final fue un duelo de mates entre Lebron y Griffin. Durant y Anthony lucharon por ser el más anotador. Y entre todas las estrellas apareció Kyrie Irving para llevar al Este a la victoria y conseguir su primer MVP del All-Star game.

Terrence Ross, John Wall, Damian Lillard, Paul George, Ben Mclemore and Harrison Barnes will be in the charge of delight the fans.

Paul George and Ross seem to be the favorites to win the title. The NBA thinks that these 6 players can return the prestige that in the past years the dunk contest has lost. You can see here the candidates:

But, this year will be new rules: as Tyler Conway informs “Rather than competing individually, elimination-style like previous years, the NBA has instead come up with a two-round team competition. In the first round, titled the "Freestyle Round," dunkers from each respective conference will have 90 seconds to do as many dunks as they want. After each conference's Freestyle Round opportunity, a panel of judges will determine whether the Eastern Conference or Western Conference won the round. Battle Round: Head-to-head dunk-off. Winner determined by judges. Winner of freestyle round gets to choose the order of the battle round. Dunk contest winner determined when no players from one conference are remaining in the competition. Fans will determine the best dunker”. 

Paul George y Terrence Ross favoritos para el concurso de mates.

Terrence Ross, John Wall, Damian Lillard, Paul George, Ben Mclemore y Harrison Barnes serán los encargados de deleitarnos en el concurso de mates.

A priori, Paul George y Ross parecen los dos candidatos más próximos al título. La NBA cree que estos 6 jugadores pueden devolver ese prestigio, que en los últimos años parece haber perdido el concurso de mates. Aquí podéis ver a cada uno de los candidatos.

Este año habrá cambios en el concurso: Según informa As.com“Los jugadores competirán por equipos, no de forma individual. Dos equipos de tres jugadores representarán a cada una de las Conferencias a lo largo de las dos primeras rondas. La primera, Freestyle Round, permitirá a cada formación llevar a cabo mates, tanto colectivos como individuales, durante un minuto y medio. Al finalizar será el jurado quien elija al vencedor: el Este o el Oeste. La Battle Round o ronda final, se basará en el clásico duelo individual. Un matador del Este contra otro del Oeste. Cara a cara. Tres intentos para hacer un mate. El perdedor será eliminado y así se seguirá hasta que uno de los equipos gane tres duelos y sea alzado como la formación campeona. el público será el que seleccione el mate ganador”.

NBA All-star Reserves announced!

Chris Bosh and Dirk Nowitzki headline the list of 14 players that have been selected as reserves for the all-star. 1st time All-star for Wall, Lillard, DeRozan and Millsap.

We just know the rosters that will play on the 63th edition. The game is scheduled on February 16.

East: Chris Bosh, Roy Hibbert, John Wall, Paul Millsap, Joe Johnson and Joakin Noah join Lebron and company.

West: Lamarcus Aldridge, Dwight Howard, James Harden, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Damian Lillard and Chris Paul will join Kevin Durant and the rest of the players. 

We won’t have players like Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce or Kobe Bryant (he misses the game because of his injury), due to the generational change. But, as Kobe said, “let the youngers play and enjoy with them”, so, it is time to enjoy once again with the All-star show.

Chris Bosh y Dirk Nowitzki lideran la lista de reservas para el All-star. Wall, Lillard, DeRozan y Millsap se estrenan.

Ya están completas las plantillas que se enfrentaran el domingo 16 de Febrero en la 63 edición del partido de las estrellas.

Este: Chris Bosh, Roy Hibbert, John Wall, Paul Millsap, Joe Johnson y Joakin Noah acompañarán a Lebron y compañía.

Oeste: Lamarcus Aldridge, Dwight Howard, James Harden, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Damian Lillard y Chris Paul formarán filas junto a Kevin Durant.

El cambio generacional nos deja fuera a jugadores como: Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce y Kobe Bryant (se queda fuera por lesión a pesar de estar en el quinteto titular). Como bien dijera Kobe “es tiempo para que los jóvenes nos hagan disfrutar”, así que, disfrutemos un año más del espectáculo del All star.
