The Cleveland Cavaliers strengthened with Keith Bogans

Bogans leaves the Boston Celtics to play with Lebron. In exchange, Boston receive John Lucas III, Murphy, Powell and Thomas.

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue strengthening facing the new season. After signing Lov, Marion, Miller and Jones, Ohio's franchise acquire the veteran Keith Bogans. The shooting guard/forward, who could be the last  addition, arrives in order to improve the defence of a team that claim to reach the championship.

In the trade, Cleveland send John Lucas III, Erik Murphy, Dwight Powell and Malcolm Thomas to the Boston Celtics, together with two second round draft picks (2016-2017). Along with Bogans, Boston send  two  second round draft picks (2015-2017).

Los Cavaliers siguen reforzándose de cara a la nueva temporada. Tras los fichajes de Love, Marion, Miller y Jones, los de Ohio incorporan al veterano Keith Bogans. El escolta/alero, puede ser el último fichaje, llega para ayudar en defensa al equipo que pretende alzarse campeón.

En el traspaso los Cavaliers mandan a los Celtics a John Lucas III, Erik Murphy, Dwight Powell y Malcolm Thomas, junto a dos segundas rondas del 2016 y 2017. Junto a Bogans, Boston envía dos segundas rondas del 2015 y 2017.

The story of a rivalry that changed the course of the NBA

Magic and Larry, two of the best players of NBA’s history were the backbones of what is now the NBA.

Basketball within the American territory suffered a major crisis and recorded the lowest levels of audience in the late 70s. There was no longer that sport in which all players worked together to lead his team to the goal. Unfortunately for fans, basketball became a mere showcase in which each player  “showed off” their abilities without thinking  of anything else.

While this was happening, two young players won every game with their universities and their clashes on the court aroused more interest than many games of the NBA. Their names were Earvin Johnson, whom people began to know as "Magic Johnson", and Larry Bird. Destiny wanted to bring these two stars together  in the 80s  carrying with them a rivalry that would change the history of this sport. Magic vs. Bird or what is the same charisma and talent against competitiveness and  the pursuit of perfection.

Few could imagine that from this rivalry arose  some friendship, a gesture of respect from any of them but…I am not going to reveal any more details. I think that is better to see and hear what the characters say about this story, the story of a rivalry that ended in a great friendship.

Historia de una rivalidad que cambió el rumbo de la NBA.

Magic y Larry, dos de los mejores jugadores de la historia del baloncesto, fueron dos de los pilares básicos sobre los que construyeron  la NBA que conocemos actualmente.

El baloncesto norteamericano sufría una importante crisis y registraba los niveles más bajos de audiencia a finales de los 70. Había dejado de ser ese deporte colectivo en el que todos los jugadores colaboraban para llevar a su equipo a la meta. Para desgracia de los aficionados, el baloncesto se convirtió en un mero escaparate en el que cada jugador trataba de “lucirse” sin pensar en nada más.

Mientras esto ocurría, dos jóvenes jugadores arrasaban con sus universidades y sus enfrentamientos en la cancha despertaban mayor interés que muchos encuentros de la NBA. Sus nombres eran Earvin Johnson, al que la gente empezaba a conocer como “Magic Johnson”, y Larry Bird.

El destino quiso juntar a estas dos estrellas en la década de los 80 y con ellos una rivalidad que cambiaría la historia de este deporte. Magic vs Bird, o lo que es lo mismo el carisma y el talento contra la competitividad y la búsqueda de la perfección.

Pocos podrían imaginar que de esta rivalidad saliera algo de amistad, algún gesto de cariño y respeto por parte de alguno de ellos pero… no desvelaré ningún detalle más. Que mejor que ver y escuchar a los personajes de esta historia. La historia de una dura rivalidad que terminó en una gran amistad.
